American Civil War Union Skirmishers and Walking Dead Zombies

A quick painting session as I had recently placed a large order with Perry Miniatures, including a box of their plastic Confederate infantry and I hadn't finished their first box set I had bought years ago. In addition to them I also had some of Sash & Sabre's Federal Infantry Skirmish or Firing Line (also bought around 2010) that I started painting a few years ago and then put on the back burner.

The photos below show my typical undercoat technique of raw umber craft paint (over a black spray painted undercoat followed by a ~5/1 highlight dry brush of raw umber/white. Then paint as normal (also with highlights, etc).

A simple job, but I wanted these done. There will be a whole lot of Confederates that they will face (an army for Rebels and Patriots) and some of them can be seen in the background of that photo above.

While I finished painting these, I also completed the Walking Dead zombies I had got from Jack at Christmas.

These will be used for a Flag of Our Zombies game I plan to have in the near future.

Painted Bits and Pieces Over Christmas

Had a few bits and pieces I wanted to paint over the quiet days and all were selected as they would have a similar colour palette, which helped in getting them done in a couple of sittings.

The first batch are some AB Figures WWII British dispatch riders to use as motorbikes in Car Wars / Gaslands type games.

The second batch is some Eureka Miniatures female peasants and chickens. They aren't available from the online store yet, but emailing Eureka or dropping into the store will allow you to get some. They are cute as hell, but I could only give them a very basic paint job as they are tiny.

And finally the last batch is of Peter Pig's USS Sandusky a Marietta-class monitor that I based a display piece for Hammerin' Iron.

Not my best painting (or photography) on these (too much food and drink in the system), but I'm glad I got these on and off my painting queue relatively quickly (well the Sandusky has been in its brown undercoat for a long while...).

Last Game I Played - Hammerin' Iron NYE

In the backyard of a wargamer who's birthday is NYE. He usually hosts a BBQ and wargaming. The last several years have been Aeronef, this year only two of us played a game of Peter Pig's Hammerin' Iron. Frustating to say the least (I lost in a landslide).
